Dedicated to the memory of Leon O'Neill

This site is a dedication to, and for, Leon O'Neill. A father, a son, a brother, a nephew, an uncle and a friend to many.

To remember Leon is to love Leon. Each memory shared is a small part for us all to hold close so please use this space to comment or share or remember him.

Leon was first, and foremost, an amazing daddy. He dedicated his life to his daughter, ensuring that he filled her days with laughter and fun and music. We ask that those who would like to donate flowers instead donate to Andy's Man Shed, Dad's House or Colne Blue's Society. Leon was an avid lover of live, local music and thrived when performing on stage.

Thank you from our family for all of your kind words at this difficult time.

Thoughts

In the realm of life's unpredictable journey, we find ourselves grappling with the harsh reality of an unforeseen farewell, as if fate played a hand that none of us were prepared for. Leon’s departure from this world, far sooner than we had hoped, leaves a void that echoes the unfairness of untimely goodbyes. Cos all of the stars – are fading away Just try not to worry – you’ll see them someday Just take what you need – and be on your way And stop crying your heart out! As we navigate the uncharted territory of grief - we should lean on each other for support, finding strength in shared memories. In the face of the unexpected, we can discover a collective resilience that transcends the pain. Weep if you must, Parting is Hell, But life goes on So sing as well Leon was a soul vibrant with ambitions, and a reservoir of untapped potential. It is in this space of unfulfilled promise - that we find ourselves wrestling with the harsh reality of life's unpredictability. Leon, we shall find you in the grey summer garden, amidst the rain wet roses; the stir of birds wings - and with the morning hills behind you. I have only slipped away into the next room I am I - and you are you Whatever we were to each other - That we are still Call me by my own familiar name Speak to me in the easy way you always used Put no difference into your tone Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow Laugh as we always laughed Let my name be ever the household word that it always was Let it be spoken without effort Without the ghost of a shadow in it Life means all that it ever was There is absolute unbroken continuity What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind Because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you for an interval Somewhere very near Just around the corner Nothing is past; nothing is lost One brief moment and all will be as it was before In Leon’s memory we should be inspired to live with purpose, compassion, and a renewed appreciation for the precious gift of time. And in the spirit of remembrance, we should celebrate a life lived his own way. For what is a man - what has he got If not himself - then he has naught To say the things - he truly feels And not the words - of one who kneels The record shows - I took the blows - And did it my way.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
